What is Credit Card Skimmers?

A skimmer is a fraudulent device that is placed over a legitimate credit card reader to read a card’s magnetic stripe or chip (shimming) and access PIN and thereby duplicate the user’s card and make unauthorised payments.

There are skimmers for payment terminals or ATMs. In the latter, it is possible to find video cameras which record the keystrokes on the PIN screen.
