What is Attack Vector?
An attack vector in cybersecurity is the means by which a cyberattack or malware infection is carried out. The set of attack vectors to which a company is exposed is called the attack surface.
There are a multitude of attack vectors, although some of the most common are email and office documents, weak passwords or vulnerabilities in applications, including zero-day (0day) vulnerabilities for which there is no security patch.
Avoiding security breaches by identifying, controlling and securing attack vectors is one of the main objectives in the field of cybersecurity.
